I drove to Doylestown on the way to the Wash. Crossing Soaking Prayer church.

The reason for this is because I wanted to find Hammerstei n’s farm, the same one whose bucolic landscape and views inspired many a tune, including the opener from Oklahoma!, “O what a Beautiful Morning”

Well I was not expecting much of a landscape due to the sprawl, but I did want to see the farmhouse and property and perhaps tour the museum.

Not.

The entire estate has been turned into a Corporate Park, sponsored by Harleysvil le Bank. It was revolting. All of the structures were there surrounded by a giant parking lot and a gilded sign saying what they were. “Manorhouse ” was a suite of offices, “Silo” was a law firm or something and “Carraige House” was the bank. I nearly spilled my bile all over the estate, such was my revolsion.
Selling out your heritage & history for your own present gain is not something I want to be caught doing. Check out the video, and pardon my rather condemning tone. Talk about selling out your birthright!

Surfing USA

Saw this last month at a evening trip to the Jersey shore. Surfing etiquette, huh? The suits even put the rules in the lingo of the locals!

Here is the marker at Washington Crossing.

Wash. Crossing Marker

“Here Washington and his men braved ice and sleet Christmas night, 1776, to cross the Delaware and to surprise and defeat the Hessians at Trenton. The victory gave new life to the patriot cause.”

When you come to the park, on the PA side the main park is encircled by a road. It is about 15 acres or so of land,

The Field

and you can imagine all the soldiers camped out awaiting their orders to cross to the other side.

Fence

By many accounts the army was nearly naked and starving to death due to insufficient rations. Somehow Washington had the bravery and leadership smarts to order a gutsy attack on the enemy, similar to Gideon’s sneak attack.

No pictures yet… rather a statement about this plog.

A blog is a “web-log”. A “plog” is a Prayer Log.

For some time I’ve wanted to record historical markers and other things that I have seen in order to publish its significance.

I invite you to read and agree with me in prayer as I take you to these places virtually. If you get any impressions concerning the subject(s), feel free to post them in the comments section, subject to my review. Please read below for guidelines.
